Flight Simulator X

TrackIR gives you the ability to immerse yourself in the virtual cockpit allowing you to take command for a pilot's full view of the flight deck. While taxiing onto the active runway or turning onto final approach in your Boeing 747, with TrackIR just a turn of your head gives you a realistic pilot's view of the world outside. Challenge yourself and test your flight skills using TrackIR.

With more than 24,000 airports located on every continent, players will be able to explore their home town or a favorite far-off city. Players will be able to experience what it is like to be a pilot and have real distractions, to shade their eyes from the glare of reflective paint and the glint from glass and chrome. Players will enjoy the opportunity to fly their dream aircraft, from classic seaplanes like the de Havilland Beaver and Grumman Goose to the Cessna 172 there is a plane for every terrain and every player.

Like FS2004, FSX is TrackIR Enhanced.

New view mode features:

One of the new features of FSX is the expansion of TrackIR into the different view modes. You still have use of the TrackIR in the "Virtual Cockpit" mode, with full 6 DOF support, but this has also been expanded to the other views as well. As always, to disable the TrackIR rotation in the different view modes, just press the F9 key (default) to pause the TrackIR software.
  • "2D Cockpit" mode - TrackIR has support for head movement in both the Yaw and Pitch axes.
  • Outside View: Tail – Similar to the 2D cockpit mode, in that there is support for both the Yaw and Pitch axes.
  • Outside View: Spot – Rotating your head in the Yaw axis direction (looking left and right) will cause the view to rotate to the side that you are looking at (i.e. if you look to left, your view will rotate so you are looking at the left side of the aircraft).
Check out the Tips & Tricks below for drivers and installation instructions for FSX support.

Tips Tab
To get TrackIR support for FSX, you will need to download the latest version of the software (4.1.029 or later).
  1. Run the downloaded installer file. If you haven’t uninstalled the previous version, it will run through an uninstall application first.
  2. If you had to run the uninstaller, rerun the downloaded file to install the latest version.
  3. Start the TrackIR software. You can run the software minimized by adjusting the TrackIR settings under the Options menu.
  4. Start FSX.
  5. Enjoy the new features of FSX, with TrackIR support.

Active Sky X Troubleshooting:
  1. Make sure that you have SP1 installed.
  2. You should have the following folders installed:
    • C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\ x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator. SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.....
    • C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\ x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator. SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.61234.....
    If these folders are not installed, make sure that you perform a repair install of FSX and a clean install of SP1 for FSX.
  3. If you are making changes to the SimConnect.xml file, to allow ASX to function, this can then break SimConnect from functioning locally as well. This is resolved easily with applications such as FSUIPC, which when reinstalled add the local settings back into the SimConnect.xml file.

    To remedy the issue with the TrackIR, you need to have the local settings stay defined within the SimConnect.xml file. Note that the highlighted section is required for the TrackIR to function locally.

    Example:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
    <SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0">
    <Descr>SimConnect</Descr>
    <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Protocol>Auto</Protocol>
    <Scope>local</Scope>
    <Address></Address>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Port></Port>
    <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>
    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
    </SimConnect.Comm>

    <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
    <Scope>global</Scope>
    <Address>XXXXXXX</Address>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Port>XXX</Port>
    <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>
    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
    </SimConnect.Comm>
    </SimBase.Document>

A profile is a collection of settings for the TrackIR. You will find a variety of profiles that can be used with this game, in our community section.
