OptiTrack uses Reflective Marker Technology to track targets. Very precise and reliable tracking can be achieved by placing the reflective markers on an object to be tracked in the Field of View of the camera. An Infra-Red (IR) light source built into the camera illuminates the markers, making them stand out against the background.
The cameras identify and transfer the marker positions to the PC, where the tracking information can be displayed and utilized by your application. Multiple cameras can be arrayed together to have a very large coverage area. Both Passive markers and Active markers can be used as required by your application.
Our multi-camera synchronization, calibration and tracking software
provides the ability to identify marker locations in 3D space
(Point Cloud)
and track them across multiple cameras.
Markers can be attached to multiple objects in known patterns
(Rigid Bodies),
allowing them to be tracked in full 6DOF (position and rotation).
Using an array of cameras, full 360 degree body
motion (Motion Capture) can be
captured in precise detail. The resulting skeletal animation
can then be exported via BVH to 3D modeling and animation
applications for character control.
